I am Anne Slater, a licensed clinical social worker and therapist. I believe we have a fundamental human need for connection, yet feeling connected can be difficult. This is especially true at times of transition in our lives: good, bad, and otherwise, change is stressful! I love that I get to be part of helping individuals, couples, and families re-establish connection when it seems most challenging.

I received my Master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of Social Work and have 10 years of experience that ranges from working with adjudicated youth in Brooklyn’s underserved communities to building a private practice. I also received intensive training in couple and family therapy at The Ackerman Institute for the Family in New York City. I have learned the value of context, particularly as it relates to our experiences with power, privilege, and oppression. Looking through a contextual lens helps create meaning and understanding, and ultimately leads to relationships full of love and connection.

Prior to finding my life’s work as a therapist, I worked in public relations and publishing. And in addition to my therapist self I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend.
