Rebecca Whitson is a licensed clinical social worker who splits her time between clinical coordinator at a residential treatment program, the Center for Success and Independence and in private practice at the Lovett Center. She specializes in adolescents, young adults, and family work. She has completed the Intensive and Advanced Intensive Training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Ms. Whitson has advanced training in DBT for a variety of populations including substance use, adolescent, families, trauma, and disorders of over-control, including depression, eating disorders, and anxiety manifestations. In addition to DBT, she has extensive training in meditation based treatment as well as exposure for anxiety and trauma related symptoms. Being a certified facilitator in Family Connections, Ms. Whitson provides groups for family members of individuals with emotion regulation disorders. Following a Masters degree in Social Work from Smith College, she has attended multiple post graduate intensives and programs, including a fellowship at The Menninger Clinic in Houston, Texas. In the state of Texas, she holds a licensed board certified social work supervisor and facilitates the clinical training for both social workers and professional counselors. Ms. Whitson frequently presents on clinical and social issues in the community. She enjoys finding balance with her ninja cats, traveling, enjoying humor in life, and being around authentic individuals.
