LAURA BOWEN - Executive Director

Laura Bowen has been working in the field of mental health and addiction since 1998, but she has been drawn towards helping people as far back as she can remember. She decided to pursue a career in counseling after receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Texas, Dallas. “I became passionate about the work I was doing when I saw how much people’s lives improved when they found their path.” She sought further education and obtained a Master’s degree in Counseling from Amberton University. Laura is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Master Addiction Counselor. Her passion for working in recovery comes from experiencing her own tragic loss, which drove her develop her skills and training in trauma work and addiction treatment. She believes that this life experience helps her relate to clients on a deeper level. Laura has additional training and experience in Psychodrama, Expressive Art Therapy, and Ego State Therapy, as well as CBT and DBT. She is also a Certified EDMR therapist and an Amen Clinic Affiliate, the latter of which has helped her craft assessment materials to better understand the core issue of clients’ problems. Laura was born and raised in California but traveled and lived in several countries as her family served in the Foreign Services. While her experience in Mental Health began with her work with adolescents and families, Laura went on to work with all types of populations in her long-spanning career, and she believes that this, combined with her background, enables her to relate to a wide variety of people and cultures. Laura has worked in many different settings; inpatient, outpatient, residential treatment and private practice. She has held positions as Clinical Director, Clinician, Manager and Business Developer in both California and Texas. She enjoys combining her human resource management background with her clinical skill set; this combined with her diverse cultural background opened doors for her to work with executives, athletes, musicians, and performers. Laura uses a client centered multi modal approach in her work with clients. When it comes to leadership, Laura enjoys coaching others in a way that serves them, allowing them to better serve others. To bring it full circle, she believes that through helping others, we gain insight and guidance in our own lives and self work.

CYRUS MARTIN - Director of Admissions

Cyrus is a Licensed Master of Social Work and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor.  He earned his Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Houston Downtown and later completed his MSW at Our Lady of the Lake.  Cyrus was born and raised in Houston, Texas and now serves his community by providing intake services at The Lovett Center.  He has been working deep within the community for over 10 years providing outreach, clinical services, and developing therapeutic alliances with community stakeholders.  Cyrus’s MSW degree specializes in Hispanic and Latino cultural competence and he prides himself on his relationship building skills with multicultural communities.  Working with a wide range of clientele from adolescents to specialized female populations, he has been fortunate to develop a broad clinical reach with family therapy, substance abuse, trauma, grief, and professionals seeking help.  Cyrus has experience utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in tandem with motivational interviewing (MI) approaches to connect with clients.  Possessing additional certified skills in cannabis youth treatment (CYT) and seeking safety (SS), Cyrus is equipped with expert knowledge and skills related to evidence based criteria.  Working to develop an ecological perspective and treat clients from a holistic approach allows Cyrus to develop meaningful interventions for both people and communities.  Dedication and compassion are Cyrus’s two pillars of focus and he thrives on communicating with and helping those in need.

PA KELLY - Facility Manager

P. A. was born and raised in The Bronx, New York and left for California after graduating from high school.  In the Bay Area, she marched in drum and bugle corps winning three national championships.  With that experience, PA was asked to come and teach marching bands in Houston area high schools.  She spent sixteen years teaching visual design resulting in national championships. While she was doing this, she was also working at Compaq Computers as a leader in manufacturing circuit boards and hardware.  She is an artist and passionate about using color in abstract mediums.  PA loves being around other people. She’s committed to dedicating her life to service in the community.

NORA BIGLEY - Administrative Assistant

Nora graduated from Lonestar Community College with an Associate Of Arts and is continuing her education at the University of Houston Downtown where she will graduate in May with a Bachelors in Science in Interdisciplinary studies. She has recently been accepted into the Texas Teachers Teaching program and aspires to be a teacher as soon as she completes the program. She believes that every child deserves the best education so that they may have a brighter future and reach their goals and expectations in life. In her down time she enjoys cooking , painting, and kayaking in the bays of Galveston.
