About
Bilingual psychotherapy across
cultures and borders.
Ana Lehrhaupt is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who provides individual, couples, and family psychotherapy in both Spanish and English at The Lovett Center. She has extensive experience helping adults work through anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and the difficulty of adjusting to life transitions. Believing that lasting change comes from identifying the underlying causes of symptoms, she draws from different therapeutic modalities and a culturally aware approach, working to foster a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment for each client.
Ana’s clinical experience as a psychotherapist, along with her education in psychology, clinical social work, and cultural anthropology, allows her to adapt her interventions to the particular needs of each person. She has also specialized in the emotional challenges that can come with the immigrant and expatriate experience, drawing on her own years of living in different countries. Born in Uruguay, she lived in Argentina and France before moving to the United States in 2000, and she complemented that experience with a Master of Arts in Latin American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, focused on migration.
In Uruguay, Ana graduated with a degree in Psychology from the Universidad de la República and later completed seven years of postgraduate training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy for children and adults. She ran her own private practice and taught at the School of Psychology there. In Houston, she earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work at the University of Houston, then completed the postgraduate training program in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at the Center for Psychoanalytic Studies, where she now serves as Adjunct Faculty.
