Aysha Urban

Aysha Urban is passionate about helping people meet life’s challenges by creating a collaborative, safe, and accepting environment for fostering change and growth. As an Individual Therapist at The Lovett Center, she works in a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental manner, hoping to help clients name their unique strengths, find fulfillment, and discover a joyful path forward. Her clinical experience covers a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, addiction, maladaptive behaviors, trauma, adoption-related issues, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. Working from a standpoint of cultural respect, she also has a working knowledge of Gujarati, Hindi, and Urdu.

Aysha earned a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Houston and a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from Carleton University in Canada. Alongside her clinical training, she brings a broad background of education and work experience, with earlier careers ranging from art appraisal to managing Michelin-starred restaurants and physical assets for a Broadway theater company. Her own lived experience informs her sensitivity to the emotional challenges that accompany life transitions, relocation, the expatriate experience, and immigration. Before settling in Houston in 2011, she spent time living in London, Luxembourg, the Cayman Islands, Ottawa, Montreal, and New York City.

Aysha’s personal interests are based broadly in the arts. She lives with her husband, daughter, and cat in Houston’s Montrose neighborhood, and spends her free time exploring nearby parks, museums, galleries, and restaurants with them (not the cat). Her favorite thing is sharing food, conversation, and laughter with friends and family.
