Chad Lemaire

Dr. Chad Lemaire is a psychiatrist with more than a decade of experience, drawn to the work by a belief that the shared human experience is a large part of caring for people who seek mental health support. He approaches treatment in a compassionate and holistic way, employing a biopsychosocial model and incorporating existential and spiritual components as desired by the person in front of him. He sees a deep connection in a trusting environment as something with the power to heal, and he involves the people he treats in collaborative decisions about their care. Dr. Lemaire strives to treat others as he would want his own loved ones to be treated, and finds the work of helping people improve their lives deeply rewarding.

Before becoming a physician, Dr. Lemaire worked as a nurse. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with Highest Honors and was named Outstanding Graduate of the College of Nursing. While working as a pediatric oncology nurse, he was inspired to pursue medicine. He attended Baylor College of Medicine, graduating in 2006 with Highest Honors, ranked first in his class, and received the Eugen Kahn Award for Excellence in Psychiatry. He then completed a psychiatry residency at the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Baylor College of Medicine, where he was named Outstanding Resident of his graduating class.

Across his career, Dr. Lemaire has held a range of clinical and leadership roles and has done advocacy work around mental health and other issues important to him. He served as President of the Houston Psychiatric Society in 2017-18 and has been a Board Member for the Network of Behavioral Health Providers and for Doctors for Change. He has authored or co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed journal articles in mental health and wrote a book chapter on grief and resilience. A Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, he is also a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, the Houston Psychiatric Society, the Texas Medical Association, and the Harris County Medical Society.
