About
Psychodynamic insight,
practical coaching.
Jessica Zachary is a clinician at The Lovett Center who works with adults across a wide range of psychiatric concerns, including mood and anxiety disorders, addiction, and relationship issues. She has a particular passion for helping people who are newly diagnosed adjust to managing their condition and communicate effectively with their psychiatrists. Her style is psychodynamically oriented, helping clients learn from their past to understand how it shapes their present, while bringing a strong dose of pragmatism and hands-on coaching when it serves them, so they can set reasonable goals and define their own markers of progress.
Most of all, Jessica strives to build a healing, therapeutic experience with each client. She helps people feel seen and heard, co-creating a transformational experience that undoes the feelings of aloneness and suffering that can reach into the rest of their lives. Jessica comes from a family of psychologists, social workers, and other helping professionals. She earned her bachelor’s in psychology from Yale University, cum laude, followed by a master’s in social sciences from the University of Chicago. She first followed another passion, spending 14 years in fashion across luxury retail management, event planning, training, and online visual merchandising for global luxury brands. During that time she volunteered for six years as a bereavement counselor at Bo’s Place, which prompted her to move into social work and earn her master’s from the University of Houston.
Since then, Jessica has continued her work at Bo’s Place, helping children, adolescents, and adults cope with traumatic losses as a group facilitator. She has also worked with children navigating conduct disorder and their families, with clients living with schizophrenia, and with people who have intellectual disabilities. At home, Jessica is a mom to two young children and a 110 lb Bernese Mountain dog named Kate, an active volunteer in her children’s schools, and a die-hard indoor cyclist. In her spare time she loves to cook up new business ideas with her husband and ambitious desserts that, she will tell you, always taste better than they look.
