Senior Clinician. Working in mental health and addiction since 1998, Laura draws on her own experience of loss and a multimodal, client-centered approach to meet people where they are.
About
Trauma and addiction,
met with experience.
Laura Bowen has worked in mental health and addiction since 1998, drawn to helping people for as long as she can remember. She first studied Human Resource Management at the University of Texas at Dallas, then pursued counseling after seeing how much people’s lives improved once they found their path, later earning a Master of Arts in Counseling from Amberton University. A Licensed Professional Counselor and Master Addiction Counselor, she found her passion for recovery work through her own experience of tragic loss, which led her to build her skills and training in trauma work and addiction treatment and, she believes, helps her relate to clients on a deeper level.
Laura’s training extends across Psychodrama, Expressive Art Therapy, and Ego State Therapy as well as CBT and DBT, and she is a Certified EMDR therapist. As an Amen Clinic Affiliate, she has crafted assessment materials that help her understand the core issues clients are experiencing. Born and raised in California, she traveled and lived in several countries while her family served in the Foreign Service, and she credits that background, alongside a career spanning many populations, with her ability to relate to a wide variety of people and cultures.
Her experience runs across inpatient, outpatient, residential, and private-practice settings, in roles from Clinician to Clinical Director, Manager, and Business Developer across California and Texas. Combining her human resource management background with her clinical skill set has opened doors to work with executives, athletes, musicians, and performers, all met through a client-centered, multimodal approach. In leadership, she enjoys coaching others in ways that serve them, holding to the belief that through helping others we gain insight and guidance for our own lives.
