About

Care for mind, body,
and spirit.

Melissa McDavid specializes in individual, couples, and family therapy in part-time private practice at The Lovett Center in Houston, Texas, and serves as a Student Support Counselor in Pearland ISD. As founder of Mindful Solutions Counseling and Educational Consulting, she is deeply committed to helping people and families navigate life transitions, working with each client in a way that draws on mind, body, and spirit. Her approach is unique to every person she sees.

With a lifelong passion for the mental health field, Melissa has trained and worked with individuals of all ages across diverse settings, including community mental health, hospital settings, CPS and adult and juvenile probation, schools, and private practice. She is trained in Multi-Component Grief therapy through the Trauma and Grief Center of Houston and facilitates Youth Mental Health First Aid. Believing the client-therapist relationship is essential before any method or technique can succeed, she integrates complementary methodologies and evidence-based techniques to tailor care to each client. Her areas of expertise include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, conflict resolution, marriage and family therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, psychological and psycho-educational assessment, solution-focused therapy, and systems-based therapy.

Melissa earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 2000. She serves on the board of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Gulf Coast (NAMI-GC), and is an active member of the Houston Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, the Texas Counseling Association, the National Association of School Psychologists, and Yoga Alliance. She helps each person build on their strengths toward the growth they are committed to, and considers it an honor to provide a compassionate space to begin healing. Melissa accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield, offers services on a sliding scale to those who qualify, and provides both in-person and telehealth sessions at Lovett.
