About

Care that begins
at the first session.

Josué Luna found his way into clinical work at The Lovett Center itself, where he spent a year as an intern before joining the staff. During that year he helped facilitate group and individual sessions in Lovett’s Intensive Outpatient Program and gained experience working with clients living with personality, depressive, and anxiety disorders.

He earned his Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, then completed his Master of Social Work at the University of Houston in 2021. Admitted through the advanced standing program, he finished his master’s degree in a single year. Today Josué works as both a clinician and an admissions coordinator, where one of his responsibilities is completing the initial diagnostic assessment for both adults and adolescents. He is most passionate about building a strong therapeutic relationship from the very first session, and his top priority is making sure each client feels welcome, safe, and comfortable, with a clean transition from assessment into individual therapy. As a group therapist in Lovett’s IOP skills group, alongside IOP Program Director Ellie Hemmat, he helps clients learn new life skills and put them to work in their daily lives, while continuing to grow alongside them as they progress toward their treatment and wellness goals.

Outside of work, Josué enjoys going to the gym, indoor rock climbing, playing video games for far too long, and watching movies and shows that range from horror to science fiction to action. Above all, he enjoys spending time with friends and loved ones.
